Vases

Extruded clay vases made as gifts for guests at a shared celebration, each one cut to its own length and angle.

A cluster of tall deep-blue glazed vases of different heights with angled openings, holding greenery, set in snow against a white wall

Guests at a shared celebration needed gifts to take home. We designed a vase that could decorate the space during the event and leave with each guest at the end, as a fragment of the collective experience.

The idea came from the variability of trees: each one is recognizably unique, yet clearly part of a group. Every vase was extruded from clay in the same way, and the variation comes from its length and the angle of the cut opening, so each piece is its own while still reading as part of one family of pottery.
